Privacy Policy for AmarMeds

Effective date: October 16, 2026

AmarMeds ("we", "our", "us") is a mobile app developed by Webry Technologies that identifies medicines from photos and names. This policy explains what data the app collects, where it goes, how long we keep it and how you can delete it.

1. What we collect

No account: AmarMeds has no sign-in. We do not ask for your name, email address or phone number to use the app.

Medicine photos: when you scan a medicine, the photo you take with the camera or choose from your gallery is uploaded to AmarMeds's servers.

Scan results: the result of each scan (medicine name, dosage, uses, price, general information and warnings) is saved on AmarMeds's servers together with the photo. It is not linked to your name or to any account.

Medicine names you search for: these are sent to our servers to look up the medicine. Search results are not stored on our servers.

Translating a result: when you read a saved result in the other language, its text (never your photo) is sent to our servers to be translated. It is not stored there.

App usage: which screens you open and which features you use (for example that a scan was made and whether the medicine was identified, or that a reminder was saved). This never includes the names of your medicines, your photos, your results or anything you type.

Crash reports: when the app crashes or hits an error, a report with the technical details (device model, Android version, app version and where in the app it went wrong) is sent so that we can fix it.

Push notification token: a random code that lets us send notifications, such as news about the app, to your phone.

Usage data and crash reports are linked to a random ID created by the app, not to your name. You can stop sending them at any time in Profile, under Share usage & crash reports.

Data kept only on your phone: your scan history list, My Meds, reminders, profile details (name, email, phone number and picture), and language settings are stored on your device and are not uploaded to our servers.

2. How we use your data

We do not sell your data or show ads, and we do not use advertising IDs or advertising trackers.

3. Who we share data with

Google (Gemini API): every scan photo, every medicine name you search for, and the text of a result you ask to read in the other language, is sent to Google's Gemini API for AI analysis. Under Google's terms for the paid Gemini API, Google does not use this data to improve its products or train its AI models, and keeps it for up to 55 days to detect abuse before deleting it.

OpenAI (API): when Google's service is unavailable or has reached its limit, the same photo, medicine name or result text is sent to OpenAI's API instead, so that you still get an answer. Under OpenAI's terms for its API, OpenAI does not use this data to train its models, and keeps it for up to 30 days to detect abuse before deleting it.

Wikimedia Commons: to show a reference picture of an identified medicine, the medicine's name (never your photo) is looked up on Wikimedia Commons, and the app loads the picture from Wikimedia's servers.

Google (Firebase): app usage data and crash reports are sent to Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics, and push notifications are delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging. Google processes this data on our behalf. It is not used for advertising.

These companies process data on our behalf to provide the app's features. We do not share your data with anyone else unless the law requires it.

4. How long we keep your data

Scan photos and results: deleted automatically from our servers 30 days after the scan.

Data on your phone: kept until you delete it in the app or uninstall AmarMeds.

Crash reports: kept by Firebase Crashlytics for 90 days.

App usage data: kept by Google Analytics for Firebase for up to 14 months.

5. Deleting your data

In the app, open Profile and tap Delete My Data. This permanently deletes your profile, scan history, My Meds and reminders from your phone, and resets the random ID that your usage data is linked to.

To stop sending usage data and crash reports, turn off Share usage & crash reports in Profile.

Scan photos and results on our servers are not linked to you, so we cannot pick out yours; all of them are deleted automatically 30 days after the scan. See https://api.amarmeds.tech/delete-account for details.

You can clear your scan history, My Meds and reminders in the app at any time.

6. Security

All data sent between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Scan photos are stored under random, hard-to-guess addresses. No way of storing or sending data is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

7. Permissions

Camera: to take photos of medicines.

Photos: only the photos you choose in the system photo picker are used.

Notifications: to remind you to take your medicines, and to show notifications we send about the app.

You can turn these permissions off at any time in your device settings.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update it here and change the effective date.
